“The first supermarket supposedly appeared on the American landscape in 1946. That is not very long ago. Until then, where was all the food? Dear folks, the food was in homes, gardens, local fields, and forests. It was near kitchens, near tables, near bedsides. It was in the pantry, the cellar, the backyard.”
― Joel Salatin, Folks, This Ain’t Normal: A Farmer’s Advice for Happier Hens, Healthier People, and a Better World

Amen. I think we are finally catching on in this country. I want to believe the farm to table mentality is here to stay. Kudos to the restaurants who support local growers whenever they can.

  1. There is nothing like a farmer’s market. I loathe shopping in large supermarkets and try to support the local markets and small food stores in my area. And what wonderful photographs! I especially love the unusually colored cauliflowers. 🙂

  2. Those are some beautiful farm market goodies! We are so fortunate to live in a rural area with loads of farm markets. Quite a few restaurants in Columbia, St. Louis, and KC, Missouri that support local growers. Love the picnic table.. “we” need to replace the one the gray squirrels chewed up! Good Morning!

Thank you for letting me know you've been here!
