Two locust trees sit
At the edge of our green space
Just like two sentries
Gnarled limbs exposed
From years and years of living
Many branches bare
A woodpecker lives
In the hollow of one trunk
He taps out his song
Oh, but the blossoms
Bloom forth and add such beauty
To the dark, thick limbs
A dichotomy
Beauty and the beast perhaps
I think just beauty
Margie

Ooohhh….Thanks! Coolest new background picture! and wonderful haiku!
Those blossoms look extra beautiful against the rough bark and gnarled limbs of the locust tree.
Lovely tree! Wonder if there hasn’t been a squirrel family or two make that home…..
Good Morning Margie!
