He was on a ledge high up the tree, but thanks to my trusty zoom, I captured him munching away. I actually heard him before I saw him.
I angled around a bit.
He gave me the evil eye…
then dropped his nut, went to leave, but not before he flipped around as if to say, are you through?
I guess I was. Margie
So…you either have a great camera or that was a total set up with a trained squirrel that you may or may not be having a relationship with (platonic of course).
I cannot deny I have a great camera (see my sidebar), but no relationship, platonic or otherwise with Squirrel Nutkin!
Well, I wouldn’t expect you to admit it. It would really have people talking if they knew that photo was staged by you and a professional squirrel model.
It really would wouldn’t it? I’d have a niche business going though I bet.
You captured some great photos of this little fella. It’s the creature that has mocked me and our dog more than any other animal!
Oh I know, they chitter away at Quincy and me too….all the time!
Amazing pictures! 🙂
Thanks Gracie! So glad he cooperated.
Lovely photos. I think you owe that squirell a nut. Make it two to make up for the inconvenience you caused.
Amazing series 🙂 The expressions and commentary are priceless 😀
Thanks WildBlack. Always nice to see you here!
These are all awesome shots Margie, you are a whizz-kid with a camera!
I love squirrels but we don’t get them in Oz, so I enjoy your photos of them all the more. This one looks so cheeky! You captured him well.
Thanks Barb and you know, I think most squirrels are pretty cheeky!
Love squirrels. When we were in DC we had plenty of black squirrels, and gray. Here we have mostly red squirrels. Love the little critters; and chipmunks, too. Chipmunks are harder to photograph than squirrels.
For sure. Most of the time they are blurs running in the opposite direction from you. But they are so cute.
great shots, margie! i love when it turned and looked at you.
Thanks Noreen! That was pretty funny wasn’t it?
Is it a red squirrel Margie? They are rare over here because the grey ones ate them all!
Goodness Gilly, the grey ones ate the red ones?! I’m not sure if these are considered red squirrels. We have this squirrel and lately, I have seen quite a few black squirrels which is unusual in this particular area.
Marge, you brought us to this little guy!!! Wonderful!
Fun huh?
Ha ha, I love your commenting comment–cheeks hurting–but also love that squirrel! Thank you for visiting my outdoor year-long commitment blog. Looks like you have a special blog here, too. Kathy
Thanks Kathy! Glad you think so. Looking forward to seeing you around!
Cracked me up! So cute.
Thanks my friend!
lol What a beautiful creature. I love squirrels. Your photos are awesome and your story fun. 🙂
He’s a cutie isn’t he? Got up close and personal with these shots! Thanks E.C.!
I love the story, thank you so much Margie for sharing it with us 🙂
Hi there Pierre. Glad you enjoyed it!
wonderful images.
i remember trying my luck a few months back with those evasive creatures.
I did not succeed in getting images as perfectly as you have 🙂
Keep trying Amira! They are always skittering about.
he’s so cute!!!
Even for a varmint tree rat T? 😉
Another Squirrel Nut Zipper! 😀
Yup and now I know you mean the band!
He “flipped” around was exactly the message he was sending after he dropped his nut! Great series! 😀
Thanks Lula. I thought that is what he was saying!
Nice discovery and photo capture! Isn’t it fun to be one-on-one in close proximity with an animal or bird?! You actually DO get some looks and expressions at times from them as we watch each other, sometimes a little conversation even occurs. Geez, I talk to Blake all the time! And he’s squawked a few times at me too. LOL Yea, Mr/Ms Squirrel gave that, are you through look! Real cute!
Thanks Donna. Love Blake as you know!
Oh my goodness, these shots are incredible.;) What camera do you use? I love the first image, but looking through them all one can almost see the squirrel move. I love that you call it a he.;) Are you sure it is not a girl?;) The blue in your sky is so vivid.;)
Have a great week,
xoxo
Nope, I don’t really know if it was a he or a she. Didn’t get close enough to find out, LOL! I have a Panasonic Lumix which is depicted in my sidebar. Amazing camera and it fits in my pocket. No special lenses, just ready to roll. LOVE it!
